Pre AP Biology
In Pre-AP Biology, students conduct laboratory and field investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. Students in Biology study a variety of topics that include: structures and functions of cells and viruses; growth and development of organisms; cells, tissues, and organs; nucleic acids and genetics; biological evolution; taxonomy; metabolism and energy transfers in living organisms; living systems; homeostasis; and ecosystems and the environment. Grading: 5% - Daily Work
35% - Quizzes and Labs
60% - Test and Project
Learning Targets: This is a very important document that will be given to each student at the beginning of each unit. This document will also serve as a review sheet for the unit and should be used to study. All tests are designed from the content on the learning targets.
Make-up Policy: For every one day a student is absent, the student will have one day to make up assignments. The student is responsible for getting the assignments that were missed. School related activities are known in advance and the assignment, if possible, will be due before the absence occurs. Test and quizzes will be expected to be completed the day the student returns to class from a school related absence.
Tutorials: PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TUTORIALS! If you are in need of extra help, come by room 309 before school, 8:25am-8:45 am or after school and during lunch by appointment.
Retest Policy: Any student may retest up to a 80 on a unit assessment. In order to be eligible to retest, the student must:
In pre-ap biology, unit quizzes can be replaced by the higher unit test grade, but students may NOT use the retest grade to replace the quiz grades.

- create and/or complete a teacher-approved review activity

Personal Technology Use in Class
- Inappropriate technology use (gaming, messaging, etc.) will result in the student losing technology privileges for that class period. If necessary, further disciplinarian action will be taken.
